Job summary

Embedded Expertise seeks an experienced TMCS Engineer to lead the technical delivery of Tunnel Monitoring Control Systems for a major tunnel infrastructure project in Sydney. The role focuses on engineering leadership, TMCS design, integration and commissioning, coordinating with construction, electrical, mechanical and systems teams.

You will oversee PLC/SCADA, instrumentation and control system integration, and provide input into programming and system configuration while supporting FAT, SAT

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead TMCS engineering and technical delivery.
• Provide technical leadership to TMCS engineers, technicians, contractors and system integrators.
• Manage TMCS design, development, installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities.
• Review PLC, SCADA, HMI and control system designs and documentation.
• Coordinate the integration of TMCS with mechanical, electrical, tunnel, ventilation, fire/life safety and other project systems.
• Manage interfaces between TMCS, PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, electrical systems and communications networks.
• Review and manage I/O schedules, instrument lists, cause-and-effect documentation, control logic and functional specifications.
• Provide technical input into PLC/SCADA programming and system configuration.
• Support FAT, SAT, integrated systems testing, commissioning and handover.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced TMCS professional to take a key technical leadership role on a major, complex infrastructure project.

About the Role

This is a key engineering leadership opportunity for a controls and automation professional with experience in Tunnel Monitoring Control Systems (TMCS), PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, industrial communications and systems integration.

You will play a central role in the engineering, integration, testing and commissioning of the TMCS associated with a complex major tunnel infrastructure project, working closely with construction, electrical, mechanical, systems, commissioning and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take a lead role in the engineering and technical delivery of the TMCS.
• Provide technical leadership to TMCS engineers, technicians, contractors and system integrators.
• Manage TMCS design, development, installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities.
• Review PLC, SCADA, HMI and control system designs and documentation.
• Coordinate the integration of TMCS with mechanical, electrical, tunnel, ventilation, fire/life safety and other project systems.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience in TMCS engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering design, construction, testing and commissioning processes.
• Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines and project interfaces.
• Strong technical problem-solving and engineering coordination skills.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering.
• Experience on major tunnelling, rail, road, utilities or other complex infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
• CPEng/RPEQ or equivalent will be advantageous.
