Job summary

Embedded Expertise is seeking an experienced PMCS Engineer to lead the controls and automation efforts on a major tunnel infrastructure project in Sydney. You will oversee engineering, integration, testing and commissioning of PMCS, working closely with construction, electrical, mechanical, systems and commissioning teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive PMCS experience, strong design and coordination skills, and a track record of delivering complex projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in PMCS engineering.
• Strong understanding of design, construction, testing and commissioning processes.
• Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines and interfaces.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CPEng/RPEQ or equivalent advantageous.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PMCS professional to take a key technical leadership role on a major, complex infrastructure project.

About the Role

This is a key engineering leadership opportunity for a controls and automation professional with experience in Plant Monitoring Control Systems (PMCS), PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, industrial communications and systems integration.

You will play a central role in the engineering, integration, testing and commissioning of the PMCS associated with a complex major tunnel infrastructure project, working closely with construction, electrical, mechanical, systems, commissioning and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take a lead role in the engineering and technical delivery of the PMCS.
• Provide technical leadership to PMCS engineers, technicians, contractors and system integrators.
• Manage PMCS design, development, installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities.
• Review PLC, SCADA, HMI and control system designs and documentation.
• Coordinate the integration of PMCS with mechanical, electrical, tunnel, ventilation, fire/life safety and other project systems.
• Manage interfaces between PMCS, PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, electrical systems and communications networks.
• Review and manage I/O schedules, instrument lists, cause-and-effect documentation, control logic and functional specifications.
• Provide technical input into PLC/SCADA programming and system configuration.
• Support FAT, SAT, integrated systems testing, commissioning and handover.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in a relevant discipline.
• Significant experience in PMCS engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering design, construction, testing and commissioning processes.
• Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines and project interfaces.
• Strong technical problem-solving and engineering coordination skills.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering.
• Experience on major tunnelling, rail, road, utilities or other complex infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
• CPEng/RPEQ or equivalent will be advantageous.
