Job summary

SSE Transmission is hiring experienced Senior Land Managers to oversee land rights for Scotland’s major infrastructure projects. You will secure and manage land and property rights, drive land strategies and navigate statutory processes to deliver critical energy projects.

You will lead negotiations with landowners and coordinate data across disciplines, building strong relationships with stakeholders including regulators and planning authorities to support timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Scottish landownership and experience of dealing with complex land and property matters.
• In-depth knowledge of land and property rights, including wayleaves, servitudes and land acquisition.
• Knowledge of Electricity Act 1989, Land Compensation Act 1973 and Compulsory Purchase Act 1965.
• Understanding of energy networks or regulated environments and how land requirements contribute to project delivery.
• Membership of the Rural Professional Group of RICS or CAAV, or commitment to pursuing relevant membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the land and property activity for major infrastructure projects, securing and maintaining the rights needed to support successful project delivery.
• Develop and deliver land assembly strategies, using negotiated agreements and statutory powers, including wayleaves and CPOs where required.
• Lead engagement and negotiations with landowners, tenants and representatives to build positive relationships and fair outcomes.
• Coordinate land referencing, property data and input from multiple disciplines to support statutory applications and wider project requirements.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, local authorities, the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit, Forestry and Land Scotland and planning authorities.
