Job summary

University of New South Wales – Sydney NSW seeks a Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer to identify teaching and research needs and support lab operations. You will help commission and maintain specialised equipment, and oversee user access and training in teaching and research laboratories.

Role involves ensuring WHS compliance, developing procedures with the HSE Advisor, and collaborating with academic and technical staff.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification in electrical engineering with strong fundamentals in Signal Processing, Systems and Control.
Experience applying signal processing and control theory to practical systems.
Proficient computing skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of hazards with capacity to write safe working procedures and manage risks.
Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills for research needs.
Advanced skills in software applications and computing languages (Matlab, LabVIEW, Python).
Ability to train students and staff in equipment and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Identify teaching and research requirements and support their delivery.
Facilitate commissioning and maintenance of specialised equipment.
Manage user access and training for labs.
Support compliance with WHS requirements and develop safety procedures.
Collaborate with academic, technical staff and students to provide quality technical support.
