Sportsbet Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Java, to join the Betting Product Technology team in Melbourne. You will design and build reliable, scalable backend systems while uplifting engineering standards across the team. This hands‑on senior role involves technical ownership and mentoring junior engineers.

The role offers a hybrid work model in Melbourne with a focus on delivering high‑quality software, improving CI/CD, and driving robust DevOps practices across the stack.

Qualifications

• Senior engineering role with mentoring responsibilities.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS, VPC, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS).
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, secure coding and engineering tools such as Docker, Jenkins and Ansible.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve scalable backend services and platforms.
• Deliver high‑quality software focused on maintainability, reliability and performance.
• Lead technical design and solutioning for complex business problems.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, strengthening engineering practices across the team.
