You will lead backend development in Python, contribute to product decisions, and collaborate with founders and product teams. This high-impact role offers hybrid work in Sydney and potential equity participation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Software Engineer, Staff Engineer or Tech Lead.
• Strong backend engineering expertise, ideally in Python-based environments.
• Excellent CS fundamentals including software design, algorithms and data structures.
• Experience designing and building scalable production systems.
• Strong code review and technical leadership capability.
• Comfortable influencing technical direction and challenging ideas constructively.
• Experience in high-performing engineering environments.
• Passion for leveraging AI tools to improve software development productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production-grade features across the stack, with a focus on backend development.
• Lead code reviews and establish best practices across the engineering function.
• Contribute to architecture and system design discussions.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tooling.
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate technical standards.
• Own projects end-to-end from design through deployment and optimisation.
