Job summary

Sportsbet Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Java, to join the Betting Product Technology team in Melbourne. You will design and build reliable, scalable backend systems while uplifting engineering standards across the team. This hands‑on senior role involves technical ownership and mentoring junior engineers.

The role offers a hybrid work model in Melbourne with a focus on delivering high‑quality software, improving CI/CD, and driving robust DevOps practices across the stack.

Qualifications

• Senior engineering role with mentoring responsibilities.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS, VPC, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS).
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, secure coding and engineering tools such as Docker, Jenkins and Ansible.

About the Role

We’re scaling development at Sportsbet and looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Java, to join our Betting Product Technology team in Melbourne. • Mentor and guide junior team members, helping strengthen technical capability and engineering practices across the team.

About You

You combine strong technical depth with professionalism, sound judgement and accountability. You enjoy solving meaningful problems, collaborating across teams and helping others grow. Adaptable and delivery-focused, you bring a genuine sense of ownership and are motivated by building great systems, supporting your teammates and continuously improving engineering practices.

What You Will Bring:

• Proven experience in a senior engineering role, including mentoring and guiding junior team members.
