Job summary

Preacta Recruitment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead a cloud-native transformation, building event-driven Java services in a modern stack (Java 21, Python, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS). You will own architecture decisions and shape a multi-year program for a major Australian financial services organisation.

Strong Java fundamentals and a design-first mindset are essential. You’ll contribute across design, development, and production support, with opportunities to influence system design

Qualifications

Strong hands-on Java experience with Java 21 is highly regarded.
Experience designing and building microservices and serverless functions from the ground up.
Solid understanding of event-driven architecture, ideally with Kafka.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong SQL skills and the ability to reason about data at scale.
Design and architecture mindset to translate business problems into system designs.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver microservices and serverless features that underpin core functions.
Own the full lifecycle from design to build, test and production support.
Make architecture decisions shaping the platform for the next decade.
