Job summary

Telequip in Cairns, QLD, is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to guide our IT support and service team. You will coordinate workloads, supervise tickets, and drive projects from scope through to completion.

This senior role combines leadership with active problem solving, mentoring staff, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across Microsoft 365, cloud, networking and cybersecurity. You’ll shape technical standards and contribute to strategic planning while remaining hands-on.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical staff and teams.
• Strong ability to plan and deliver IT projects from scope to completion.
• Hands-on troubleshooting capability across systems and networks.
• Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 administration and related cloud tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms and IT service delivery environments.
• Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to the IT support and service team.
• Allocate and coordinate technical work based on priority, skills and customer requirements.
• Monitor ticket queues, workloads, escalations and outstanding customer issues.
• Ensure technicians maintain accurate ticket notes, documentation and customer communication.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Assist technicians with troubleshooting and provide guidance rather than taking over every issue.
• Review technical work and maintain consistent service quality.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver IT projects from initial scope through to completion.
• Take hands-on responsibility for complex or business-critical projects.
• Develop project plans, technical requirements, implementation steps and resource requirements.
