Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a System Administrator 2 in Sydney, Australia, to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) unit. The role covers monitoring and maintaining Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM, and integrated electronic systems for federal, local, and commercial clients.

You will triage issues, provide Tier 1/2 support, and coordinate with vendors and engineers. The position requires flexibility for night, weekend, on-call shifts and on-site customer work in Sydney.

Qualifications

  • Requires system administrator experience including triage, problem resolution, and workstation deployments.
  • Experience with Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Understanding of Windows Active Directory hierarchy and implementation.
  • Knowledge of large scale networking, VLANS and routing.
  • Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, holidays and on-call.

Responsibilities

  • Triage customer support calls, provide Tier 1 help desk support and Tier 2 escalation.
  • Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and technical specialists.
  • Train system users and other support personnel.
  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance actions including system backups, log reviews, and integrity checks.
  • Prepare detailed documentation of system performance and service records.
  • Perform desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates.

We are seeking a System Administrator 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

  • In this role you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and testing of Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM and Integrated Electronic Systems.
  • Candidate must have flexibility in schedule, neat in appearance, able to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
  • Punctuality, attendance, a willingness to learn, and an ability to work well with others are key to success in this role.
  • Manage physical security system support to meet service level agreements.
  • Analyze physical security system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Resolve complex system issues for physical security systems and networks.
  • Triage customer support calls, providing Tier 1 help desk support and Tier 2 escalation.
  • Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and technical specialists.
  • Train system users and other system support personnel.
  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance actions including system back‑ups, error log reviews, database size, and integrity checks.
  • Organize and prepare detailed documentation of system performance, including service request records and analysis.
  • Perform desktop hardware and operating system set‑up, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates.
  • Perform all duties with minimal direct supervision.

Education:

  • 2+ Years of Experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Risk Management, Cybersecurity preferred.
  • 6+ Years of Experience with an Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Risk Management, Cybersecurity preferred.
  • 8+ Years of Experience with a High School Diploma.

Required Progressive Experience:

  • Requires system administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
  • Requires an understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of Windows active directory hierarchy and implementation.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of large scale networking, VLANS and routing.
  • Requires reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays and on call as needed.
