Brisbane Test Lab is seeking a Senior/Intermediate Electrical & Electronics Test Engineer in Brisbane, QLD. You will drive product safety testing, certification support, and lab equipment innovation while mentoring junior engineers.

The role reports to the Technical Manager and focuses on expanding testing capabilities and operational performance. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronics and 3+ years in testing labs, with strong standards knowledge and hands-on testing

Responsibilities

• Testing & Compliance: Conduct product safety and performance testing to national/international standards (AS/NZS, IEC, EN, ISO).
• Technical Review & Certification: Assess schematics and test reports to support certification.
• Laboratory & Equipment Innovation: Design, assemble and validate custom lab setups for projects.
• Process & Quality Assurance: Establish QA policies, test plans, procedures and calibration schedules.
• Business Development: Identify growth opportunities and establish new testing departments.

To support our rapid growth and business expansion, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior or Intermediate Electrical / Electronics Test Engineer to join our dynamic, collaborative team. About the Role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards of testing while driving new initiatives. Beyond day-to-day testing and analysis, a key focus for this role will be supporting business growth, optimizing operational performance, and potentially setting up new technical departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing & Compliance: Conduct comprehensive product safety and performance testing against national and international standards (e.g., AS/NZS, IEC, EN, ISO).
• Technical Review & Certification: Analyze and evaluate technical product documentation, schematics, and test reports to support compliance and product certification applications.
• Laboratory & Equipment Innovation: Design, assemble, and validate custom laboratory equipment and test setups tailored to specialized project requirements.
• Process & Quality Assurance: Establish, refine, and enforce quality control policies, test plans, operating procedures, and calibration schedules.
• Business Development & Expansion: Identify technical growth opportunities, spearhead the development of new testing departments, and expand test offerings.
• Project Management & Client Engagement: Manage project timelines, deliver clear communication and schedules to clients, and ensure optimal turnaround times without compromising accuracy.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of direct testing experience within an accredited testing laboratory environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in key industry standards, including AS/NZS & IEC/EN standards: 60335, 60598, 62368, 60601, 61010, 60204, 61439, 3100, 62841, 61558 standards.
• Proven hands-on experience in electrical/electronics engineering, circuit analysis, and safety test procedures.
• Strong working knowledge of standard laboratory test equipment, safety test methodologies, and measurement uncertainty principles.
• Excellent ability to interpret complex standards, engineering schematics, and technical documentation.
• A proactive approach to troubleshooting complex technical challenges and a desire to mentor junior engineers
• Valid AustralianDrivers License
