Job summary

ProFound People is partnering with an established Australian product design and manufacturing business to appoint a Test Engineer for their in-house R&D team. They design, engineer and manufacture their own products locally and are investing heavily in new product development.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent.
• Hands-on test, validation or product development experience.
• Comfortable writing and owning test plans.
• Experience with SolidWorks for jig/fixture design.
• Exposure to ISO standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and run the in-house test lab.
• Work with R&D engineers to define what needs testing, then plan and execute it.
• Write test plans covering standards, design claims, sample volumes and test sequencing.
• Carry out destructive, cyclic, wear and endurance testing on prototypes and pre-production units.
• Design and build test jigs and fixtures in SolidWorks.
• Investigate failure modes and feed findings back into design.
• Manage external and international testing houses for formal product approvals.
• Contribute to design reviews as a technical peer.

ProFound People is partnering with an established Australian product design and manufacturing business to find a Test Engineer for their in-house R&D team. The role

This is a Test Engineer role embedded within the R&D team. You will own the test lab and work alongside the product development engineers from early concept through to production sign-off. It suits someone who wants to shape how products are tested and validated, rather than execute a test sheet handed to them.

Day to day you will

• Own and run the in-house test lab
• Work with R&D engineers to define what needs testing, then plan and execute it
• Write test plans covering standards, design claims, sample volumes and test sequencing
• Carry out destructive, cyclic, wear and endurance testing on prototypes and pre-production units
• Design and build test jigs and fixtures in SolidWorks
• Investigate failure modes and feed findings back into design
• Manage external and international testing houses for formal product approvals
• Contribute to design reviews as a technical peer

About you

• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent

• Confident in SolidWorks for jig and fixture design
• Comfortable writing and owning test plans
• Experience in an R&D or NPD environment highly regarded
• Exposure to quality systems or ISO standards a plus
• Someone who wants ownership and room to grow, not just to tick boxes
