Job summary

Invenio in Melbourne, Australia, is seeking an experienced Electrical Tester to join the manufacturing team. You will inspect and test switchboards, switch rooms and other electrical products, ensuring safety and compliance with Australian Standards.

This hands-on role requires reading and interpreting electrical drawings, applying AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439, and collaborating with workshop, drafting, project management and estimating teams.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers, colleagues, suppliers and contractors with product testing where required.
  

• Identify and report technical issues, non-conformances, safety concerns and potential hazards.
  

• Ensure testing is conducted safely, including appropriate isolation, test‑for‑dead and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  

• Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, operational and suitable for use.
  

• Assist with electrical equipment maintenance when required.
  

• Participate in site work and customer visits as required.
  

• Provide technical support and guidance to workshop staff.
  

• Maintain accurate communication regarding project and testing status.
  

• Assist with investigating and closing out non-conformances.
  

• Follow relevant safety procedures, quality systems and standard operating procedures.
  

About You

• Experience testing switchboards, switch rooms, electrical panels or similar equipment.
  

• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  

• Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
  

• Understanding of electrical testing procedures and safe isolation practices.
  

• Experience working within an electrical manufacturing, switchboard, industrial or similar environment.
  

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  

• Ability to identify technical issues and provide practical solutions.
  

• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with workshop and project teams.
  

• A strong commitment to workplace safety.
  

• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider team.
  

An appropriate electrical trade qualification/licence and relevant testing experience will be highly regarded.
