Job summary

The University of Western Australia (UWA) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position to lead injury prevention, rehabilitation and wellbeing initiatives across the University. You will support design, implementation and continuous improvement of injury prevention and management programs, and manage complex workers' compensation and return-to-work matters with expert guidance.

Applicants should have relevant allied health qualifications and extensive experience in injury management,

• Influence strategic health, safety and wellbeing outcomes while working closely with senior leaders across the University.
• Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.

• Base salary range: $120,912 – $132,161 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Directorate plays a critical role in supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, students and visitors across The University of Western Australia. The team partners across the University to create safe, healthy and inclusive workplaces while ensuring compliance with contemporary work health and safety and workers' compensation legislation. Through proactive injury prevention, effective injury management and wellbeing initiatives, the Directorate helps foster a culture where people can thrive and perform at their best.

About the opportunity

• Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of injury prevention and injury management programs across the University and affiliated entities.
• Manage complex workers' compensation, return-to-work and fitness-for-work matters, providing expert guidance on physical and psychological injuries, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments, supported work plans, and non-work-related health conditions.
• Provide specialist advice on workplace wellbeing, psychosocial risks, mental health, manual handling and ergonomics while partnering with leaders to drive positive health and safety outcomes.

About you

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling or a related allied health discipline.
• Extensive experience managing complex injury management and workers' compensation cases, including both physical and psychological injuries, with a strong focus on sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of work health and safety, workers' compensation and disability-related legislation, supported by the ability to influence best practice and compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and provide strategic advice to senior leaders, managers and employees on workplace health, rehabilitation and wellbeing matters.
• Highly developed communication, planning, consultation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
