Paxus is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Technical Specialist to provide technical engineering, design assurance and systems engineering support across a large portfolio of complex Commonwealth ICT infrastructure projects.
This is a senior technical role suited to someone with broad infrastructure expertise who can assess complex designs, challenge technical assumptions and provide authoritative advice across data centre, network, compute, cloud and security environments.
Working across a significant portfolio of domestic and international ICT projects, you will:
Review technical designs, engineering artefacts and solution proposals
Provide senior design and systems engineering advice
Assess technical and contract change proposals for feasibility, integration impact and value for money
Review vendor designs, specifications, bills of materials and sizing assumptions
Provide technical assurance across complex infrastructure solutions
Identify technical risks, dependencies and impacts across interconnected environments
Support design assurance, governance and solution acceptance activities
Provide clear technical advice to project teams, senior stakeholders and industry partners.
You will bring strong experience across several of the following areas:
Tier II / Tier III environments, resilience, redundancy, rack and white-space design, structured cabling, power architecture, capacity planning and physical security.
Core and access architectures, routing, switching, firewalls, high availability, secure gateways, WAN connectivity and complex network integration.
VMware or equivalent platforms, enterprise storage, backup and recovery, scalability, lifecycle planning and infrastructure performance.
Hybrid cloud architecture, cloud connectivity, landing zones, infrastructure-as-code, automation and CI/CD concepts.
Security-by-design principles and practical knowledge of Commonwealth security frameworks including the ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight.
Experience applying systems engineering and enterprise architecture principles across complex, multi-vendor ICT environments.
You will be comfortable working across multiple technical domains rather than operating as a specialist in only one technology.
You should be able to look at an infrastructure solution as a whole, understand how its components interact and identify the broader implications of proposed technical changes.
Experience within Commonwealth Government, national security, critical infrastructure or another highly controlled enterprise environment will be highly regarded.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and provide credible advice to senior decision-makers.
Active AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance is required.
If you're an experienced infrastructure architect, senior systems engineer or technical specialist looking for a role where your technical judgement will influence major ICT infrastructure decisions, we'd like to hear from you.
