Job summary

Paxus is partnering with a large Federal Government environment to engage a Senior Solution Infrastructure Engineer to design and deliver resilient, high-performing infrastructure solutions that support business-critical systems.

This senior (EL1-equivalent) contract role focuses on technology refresh, workload consolidation, system resiliency, and strong operational readiness. Location is Canberra with hybrid working and onsite requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience designing infrastructure roadmaps and aligning with IT strategy.
• Ability to advise leadership on lifecycle management and investments.
• Experience reducing technical debt and optimizing cost.
• Exposure to networking, virtualization, and enterprise platforms.
• Ability to oversee technical designs, consolidation, and decommissioning.
• Experience validating DR, failover, and resiliency frameworks.
• Ability to produce clear operational documentation.
• Ability to translate complex concepts for stakeholders.
• Experience engaging vendors and running proof-of-concepts.
• Ability to review health/capacity data and recommend hardening.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain infrastructure roadmaps aligned to business and IT strategy.
• Provide leadership with lifecycle management recommendations and emerging trends.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and optimize costs.
• Design solutions across networking, virtualization, and enterprise platforms.
• Lead technical designs, consolidation initiatives, and legacy decommissioning.
• Validate disaster recovery, failover, and resiliency frameworks.
• Produce operational documentation for BAU handover.
• Translate complex concepts into clear stakeholder messaging.
• Engage vendors, run proof-of-concepts, and propose best-fit solutions.
• Review health data and recommend hardening and tuning.
