Job summary

IT Alliance Australia seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer - PostgreSQL Database Administrator (EL1) to support a major Australian Federal Government engagement. The role requires strong PostgreSQL DBA skills, high-availability design, DR planning and automation within hybrid environments.

The candidate will lead HADR configurations, PEM/EFM administration, IaC development, and CI/CD deployments across RHEL, OpenShift and VMware. NV1 clearance is required or the ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
• 5+ years of RHEL, OpenShift and VMware experience.
• 3+ years of Infrastructure-as-Code development.
• 2+ years of PostgreSQL deployment automation using Ansible CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with EDB PEM, EFM, ArgoCD and GitLab.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage PostgreSQL HADR replication clusters using EDB Failover Manager (EFM).
• Install, configure and administer EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM), including monitoring and performance optimisation.
• Design, deploy and maintain PostgreSQL environments using Ansible CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.
• Implement PostgreSQL deployments across RHEL, OpenShift and VMware environments.
• Configure ArgoCD deployments and integrate with GitLab.
• Develop automation scripts using Python and Shell scripting.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, WAL archiving and PITR strategies.
• Perform PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations and replication.
• Ensure database security with LDAP/AD, RBAC, TLS and X.509 management.

The successful candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL database administration, enterprise database infrastructure, high availability, disaster recovery, automation and DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure and manage PostgreSQL HADR replication clusters using EDB Failover Manager (EFM).
• Install, configure and administer EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM), including monitoring and performance optimisation.
• Design, deploy and maintain PostgreSQL environments using Ansible CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.
• Implement PostgreSQL deployments across RHEL, OpenShift and VMware environments.

• Troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues while ensuring availability, reliability and performance.
• Minimum 5 years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL deployments using Ansible CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL, OpenShift and VMware environments.
• Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Strong PostgreSQL database integration and performance optimisation skills.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL database security controls and access management.
• 5+ years of RHEL, OpenShift and VMware experience.
• 3+ years of Infrastructure-as-Code development.
• 2+ years of PostgreSQL deployment automation using Ansible CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with EDB PEM, EFM, ArgoCD and GitLab.
