Job summary

AECOM in Perth is seeking a Principal/Associate Director level Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydraulic design across a diverse portfolio of complex building projects, acting as the technical lead and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

This senior role involves delivering designs, reviewing calculations, mentoring junior engineers, building client relationships, and contributing to the growth of the national Hydraulics team across Australia.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in hydraulic engineering, ideally within a consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC/BCA requirements and relevant industry codes and practices.
• A relevant engineering degree, TAFE qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration, or the ability to obtain registration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, project teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience leading hydraulic design delivery, undertaking technical reviews and providing technical direction to others.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic engineering across a diverse range of building projects, acting as the technical lead and providing guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
• Own the technical delivery of hydraulic designs and calculations, including technical reviews, quality assurance and sign-off.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, coordinating hydraulic design with other disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Engage directly with clients and key stakeholders, understanding project requirements, drivers and constraints and translating these into practical, innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, delegating effectively and supporting the development of engineers across the team.
• Contribute to the wider national Hydraulics team, collaborating with experienced engineers across Australia and supporting the delivery of complex, high-profile projects.
• Deliver a broad range of hydraulic engineering services, including rainwater harvesting, sanitary plumbing and drainage, trade waste, potable and non-potable water reticulation, hot and warm water systems, energy-efficient and solar hot water systems, reverse osmosis, demineralised water and water-efficient design.
• Help shape the continued growth of the Perth team through your technical expertise, industry relationships and leadership.
