Job summary

Buildcorp is seeking a proactive HSE Leader to implement and manage on-site health, safety and environment programs across projects in Brisbane. You will engage with site teams, subcontractors and regulators to promote a safe, compliant workplace and drive continuous improvement.

You will lead HSE plans, conduct inspections, review SWMS, deliver trainings and investigate incidents as needed. A Certificate IV in OHS and 3–5 years’ construction HSE experience are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in OHS required with construction HSE experience.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a construction HSE role.
• Experience in commercial construction and refurbishment projects.
• Understanding of State WHS legislation.
• Ability to apply policies that meet HSE requirements.
• Strong influencing skills and building trust with onsite teams.

Responsibilities

• Proactively improve health and safety standards on site.
• Administer and implement the HSE Plan daily on site.
• Review subcontractor SWMS for quality and compliance.
• Conduct regular safety inspections.
• Ensure site compliance with HSE management plans and codes.
• Deliver onsite safety training to build competency.
• Respond to HSE issues and investigations.
• Identify risks and help develop solutions.

About the role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will lead the implementation of HSE systems and processes on projects, influencing behaviours and supporting teams to achieve outstanding safety outcomes. You’ll be hands-on, proactive, and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from site teams to subcontractors and regulators.

• Proactively improving health and safety standards on site
• Administering and implementing the HSE Plan daily on site
• Reviewing subcontractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for quality and compliance
• Conducting regular safety inspections
• Ensuring site compliance with HSE management plans, legislation, regulations, standards and codes
• Delivering onsite safety training to build HSE competency and compliance
• Responding to HSE issues, including serious incident investigations or subcontractor control matters
• Identifying potential HSE risks and assisting in developing solutions
  

About you

You’re a confident safety professional who can influence, collaborate and lead by example. You’re practical, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced construction environment.

• Certificate IV in OHS
• 3–5 years’ experience in a construction HSE role
• Experience in commercial construction, including new build and/or refurbishment projects
• Working knowledge of State WHS legislation
• Ability to apply policies and procedures that meet legislative HSE requirements
