Brisbane | Work Health & Safety | Site-Based Projects
Ready to make a real impact on construction sites?
We’re looking for a proactive and hands‑on HSE Advisor to join a new and emerging construction company in Brisbane, supporting the safe and successful delivery of construction projects.
This is an opportunity to work closely with site teams, project managers, subcontractors and senior stakeholders, taking ownership of site safety and helping embed a strong safety-first culture across construction projects.
Operating through an in‑house HSE model, you’ll play a key role in streamlining construction processes, strengthening site compliance and ensuring safety standards are maintained without compromising project quality or efficiency.
What will the role entail?
Site Safety & Risk Management
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, assess risks and verify compliance with safety requirements.
- Monitor construction activities and promote compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Identify and manage construction-specific risks, including working at heights, mobile plant, excavations, scaffolding, confined spaces, crane operations and electrical installations.
- Establish, implement and maintain site-specific WHS Management Plans.
- Monitor public interface safety and ensure appropriate controls are in place across active construction sites.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, registers, inspection checklists, incident reports, PPE records and permits to work.
- Review and onboard subcontractor and supplier safety documentation to ensure compliance with company requirements.
- Track and validate worker and subcontractor licences, tickets and qualifications, escalating training requirements where necessary.
- Maintain current knowledge of Queensland construction safety legislation and provide practical advice to relevant stakeholders.
Training, Consultation & Engagement
- Deliver site inductions and safety training for employees, subcontractors and visitors.
- Facilitate pre-starts, toolbox talks and other safety consultation and communication activities.
- Build strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors, project managers and external stakeholders.
- Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging safe work practices, accountability and proactive hazard reporting.
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement
- Follow established incident reporting protocols and participate in or conduct investigations as required.
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of HSE management systems, policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety practices, reduce incidents and minimize project delays.
- Work closely with the HSE Manager and senior leadership to support broader safety objectives and risk management initiatives.
About You
You’re a confident and approachable safety professional who can balance compliance requirements with the practical realities of a live construction site. You’re comfortable working autonomously, making sound decisions and engaging with people at all levels to achieve positive safety outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in a construction HSE or WHS advisory role within the residential space.
- Knowledge of Queensland construction safety legislation, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Experience conducting site inspections, identifying hazards and implementing effective risk controls.
- Confidence delivering site inductions, toolbox talks and safety training.
- Experience reviewing subcontractor documentation, maintaining safety registers and managing compliance records.
- The ability to investigate incidents, identify contributing factors and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviours on site.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to work independently while escalating issues when required.
- A collaborative approach, strong professional integrity and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.
