Job summary

Design & Build is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to lead safety, environmental and quality outcomes across large-scale construction and civil projects in Australia. You will work with project leadership and site teams to foster a proactive safety culture, provide hands-on HSE support and ensure compliance with legislation and project requirements.

With a minimum of 10 years in HSE within construction, you will coach and mentor the HSE team, conduct site inspections and investigations,

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of HSE experience in the construction industry.
• Extensive experience across large‑scale commercial construction and civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation, codes of practice and management systems.
• Proven experience coaching and mentoring HSE professionals.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence site teams, subcontractors and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a proactive safety, environmental and quality culture across site operations.
• Provide hands‑on HSE guidance and support to project teams, subcontractors and management.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments and reviews of SWMS and high‑risk activities.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental legislation, codes of practice and relevant OFSC requirements.
• Coach, mentor and develop HSE team members, supporting continuous improvement across the business.
• Monitor management systems, maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and compliance requirements.
• Identify hazards, challenge unsafe behaviours and drive improvements in site safety performance.
