Western Sydney University is seeking a Senior HR Operations Officer at Hawkesbury campus with flexible working arrangements. The role delivers high-level HR services across the employee lifecycle, handling complex transactions and safeguarding employee data across systems.

Job description

• Full-time, 12-month fixed term contract at HEW level 6.
• Hawkesbury campus with flexible working arrangements. Salary: $99,159 – $106,284 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Senior HR Operations Officer delivers complex HR transactions, resolves escalated enquiries and protects employee data integrity.

The Opportunity

You will deliver high-level operational HR services across the employee lifecycle, overseeing complex transactions and ensuring work complies with employment legislation, enterprise agreements, policies and procedures. You will provide informed guidance across onboarding, payroll, leave management, WHS, casual employment, staff benefits, employment variations and superannuation.

You will manage Tier 1 HR enquiries and act as an escalation point for non-standard or sensitive matters. Applying sound judgement and specialist knowledge, you will resolve service requests while maintaining accurate employee master data across HR systems.

You will coordinate workflows, implement quality assurance practices and identify opportunities to improve transactional service delivery, enquiry management and staff self-service. Working with internal stakeholders, you will refine processes and coach People Operations Officers to support consistent, reliable HR services.

What Success Looks Like:

• Complex HR transactions are completed accurately and in line with policy, legislation and enterprise agreements.
• Employee master data is validated and maintained to support reliable reporting and informed decision-making.
• Non-standard and sensitive HR enquiries are resolved through sound judgement and specialist advice.
• Operational workflows and quality assurance practices improve service consistency, efficiency and data integrity.
• People Operations Officers receive practical coaching that builds capability and embeds consistent practices.

About You

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive experience in HR operations, including complex transaction processing and employee data governance.
• Advanced knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements and compliance frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience leading process improvements and embedding quality assurance practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and influencing skills, with close attention to detail and data integrity.
