Job summary

The University of Sydney invites applications for a Senior HPC Research Computing Specialist within the Sydney Informatics Hub Platforms team. You will enable world-class research computing across HPC and cloud environments, delivering scalable, reproducible workflows and trusted services for researchers.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting research computing environments and high-performance computing platforms.
• Strong technical expertise in Linux-based HPC environments, storage systems and cloud computing (AWS/Azure).
• Scripting and automation using Python and shell scripting.
• Experience developing and deploying software containers, workflow languages and scientific computing pipelines.

Responsibilities

• provide expert advice on HPC, cloud computing, workload optimisation and reproducible research workflows
• support researchers to identify appropriate computational platforms and resolve complex technical issues across HPC and cloud environments
• coordinate researcher access to institutional and national research computing facilities, including allocation and usage processes
• develop, maintain and support scientific software environments, containers, workflows and data management solutions
• act as a key liaison between researchers, ICT, national computing facilities and technology vendors
• design and deliver training, workshops, documentation and user resources that build researcher capability and independence
• analyse platform performance, usage trends and service demand to support continuous improvement and capacity planning
• contribute to the promotion and adoption of research computing services across the University research community
