Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Lead Business Analyst to drive business analysis and functional design for the Business Optimisation Strategy (BOS) program. You will evaluate current-state processes and systems, and design streamlined future-state solutions across Finance, HR, and Procurement, partnering with architects, IT stakeholders, ERP vendors, and external consultants.

• 8+ years leading business analysis and functional design across Finance, HR, and Procurement domains.
• Expertise in process improvement and standardisation with modelling techniques (BPMN, user stories, data models).
• Strong planning and delivery management across Waterfall and Agile/Hybrid lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the BA framework across the BOS program.
• Lead discovery to analyse current-state processes, controls, data, and systems across Finance, HR, and Procurement.
• Develop future-state process designs and functional solution options aligned with BOS objectives.
• Define and manage the BA work plan with milestones and dependencies.
• Maintain end-to-end requirement traceability from objectives to design, testing and readiness.
• Collaborate with ERP vendor and external consultants to validate designs.

About The Role

The Lead Business Analyst leads business analysis and functional design for the Business Optimisation Strategy (BOS) program across Finance, HR, and Procurement. The role evaluates current-state processes and systems to define streamlined, fit-for-purpose future-state solutions and designs.

By partnering with architects, stream leads, IT stakeholders, ERP vendors, and external consultants, the role ensures end-to-end solution integrity and delivery readiness. It plans BA activity, maintains high artifact quality, manages interdependencies, and provides decision support to strengthen program governance.

Reporting to the Senior PMO Lead, the role carries no direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the BA framework, including standards, modeling conventions, and quality gates across the BOS program.
• Lead discovery to analyse current-state processes, controls, data, and systems across Finance, HR, and Procurement.
• Develop future-state process designs and functional solution options aligned with BOS program objectives.
• Define and manage the BA work plan, aligning milestones, dependencies, and deliverables with the broader program roadmap.
• Maintain end-to-end requirement traceability from business objectives through to technical design, configuration, testing, and operational readiness.
• Partner with the ERP vendor and external consultants to shape, review, and validate functional designs for completeness and feasibility.
• Plan and facilitate workshops with key business and IT stakeholders to drive requirements, resolve gaps, and secure alignment.
• Identify and manage design risks and operational impacts while supporting program governance through transparent decision-making.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in IT, Business, Commerce, or equivalent senior experience in large-scale transformation environments.
• 8+ years leading business analysis and functional design across complex enterprise platforms, spanning Finance, HR, and Procurement domains.
• Expertise in process improvement and standardisation, using contemporary modelling techniques (BPMN, user stories, data models, functional specifications).
• Strong planning and delivery management skills across Waterfall and Agile/Hybrid lifecycles, including dependency management and governance alignment.
• Proven track record of managing vendor and consulting partners, ensuring quality deliverable reviews, and resolving design gaps.
• Exceptional stakeholder facilitation, communication, and influence skills, combined with a commitment to organisational values, policies, and guidelines.
