Job summary

Mott MacDonald’s Water Consultancy Division is seeking a Flood Risk/Hydraulic Modeller to deliver flood risk assessments, develop hydraulic models and contribute to Nature Based Solutions for flood risk management. You will model using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS or ICM and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

You will work within a supportive environment offering mentoring, training and opportunities to advance in technical, management or client-facing roles, with a flexible hybrid

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies.
• Experience using flood modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS or ICM.
• Degree in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering or related discipline.
• Good communication and written skills.
• Well organised with the ability to prioritise own workload.
• Understand health, safety and environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop hydraulic models to support flood alleviation schemes and reservoir studies.
• Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches.
• Analyse data using ArcGIS, QGIS, Python and Excel.
• Produce and review high‑quality client reports.
• Mentor junior staff through hydraulic modelling processes.
• Support project management and client engagement.
