Job summary

Civil Aviation Safety Authority (Sydney) is seeking a Senior Flying Operations Inspector (FO2). The role operates within CASA’s Aviation Technical Workforce, reporting to a Manager and National Manager.

Expect regular hours with occasional extra hours. The FO2 will oversee routine and complex regulatory activities, including flight assessments and oversight of authorisation holders, in line with CASA policies and delegations.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently under guidance from managers in accordance with regulatory practices.
• Ability to exercise initiative, analysis, problem solving, judgement and decision-making on complex matters.
• Developed negotiation, facilitation, influencing and communication skills to manage stakeholders.
• Experience coaching colleagues and managing progress on complex tasks.
• In-depth understanding of aviation industry and civil aviation legislation.

Responsibilities

• Exercise decision making on routine regulatory service and surveillance activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge and manage personal performance.
• Participate in programs delivering regulatory strategies, approvals, compliance and reporting.
• Provide advice and technical guidance to regulated entities and the public.
• Conduct oversight and education of industry examiners and proficiency checks.
• Identify non-compliance and present findings with recommendations.
