Role Overview

An opportunity to join a growing commercial finance function at a time of significant development. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leaders, turning complex information into meaningful commercial insights while helping to improve the way finance supports the broader organisation.

The Senior Financial Analyst will provide high-quality analysis across a broad operational portfolio. The role will spend the majority of time investigating financial and operational data, identifying trends, exceptions and opportunities, and translating those findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders. It will also play an important role in the monthly reporting cycle, including management and Board reporting.

The position will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, regulatory data requirements and the ongoing development of finance processes and systems. With the organisation continuing to build its analytics capability, this role will have genuine scope to challenge existing processes, introduce smarter ways of working and help establish a more insight-led approach to commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Analyse complex financial and operational datasets to identify trends, anomalies, performance drivers and opportunities for improvement
• Translate analysis into practical recommendations that assist operational leaders with decision-making and performance management.
• Prepare monthly management reporting and contribute to the development of comprehensive Board and Executive reporting packs.
• Develop meaningful variance analysis and commentary, ensuring financial results are clearly explained to senior stakeholders.
• Partner with analytics and systems specialists to develop dashboards and improve the use of available business intelligence.
• Provide ad hoc commercial analysis and financial insight in response to emerging business requirements

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring experience across financial analysis or management accounting within a medium-to-large or complex organisation. They will be comfortable working with substantial datasets and will have the ability to investigate the information, recognise patterns and convert analysis into commercially useful conclusions. CA or CPA qualifications will be viewed favourably, although they are not essential and candidates currently undertaking their studies will also be considered.

This position will suit someone who is naturally curious, self-directed and takes genuine ownership of their output. Strong MS Excel capability is essential, while experience with Power BI and Salesforce or a comparable CRM/data platform will be highly regarded.
