Job summary

Randstad is recruiting for a Senior Commercial Analyst in Sydney CBD. This hybrid role combines FP&A with data automation, forecasting, and executive decision support, working with an in-house software developer to deploy Python, SQL, APIs, and Power BI dashboards.

You will model performance with operational leaders and deliver automated reporting packs on a weekly and monthly cadence. On-site, five days a week, with salary circa AUD 150,000 plus Super.

Qualifications

• Bridge between commercial finance/FP&A and analytics engineering.
• Experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, BI, or technical FP&A.
• Strong Python and SQL, with experience building Power BI data models.
• Automation focus using REST/GraphQL APIs and Power Platform.

Responsibilities

• Centralise data by transitioning systems to a unified data ecosystem.

This rapid scale-up creates sustained demand for automated financial planning, operational analysis, and commercial decision support.

Role Description

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a true hybrid seat combining core commercial FP&A with advanced data automation. The Senior Commercial Analyst will drive commercial forecasting, financial modeling, and executive decision support, while leveraging modern data tools to build a unified dataset and eliminate manual reporting.

While deeply rooted in commercial finance and business partnering, this role goes far beyond traditional Excel. You will work closely with operational leaders to model business performance, while partnering directly with an in-house software developer to deploy custom Python, SQL, API integrations, and Power BI dashboards.

This is a permanent, full-time on-site role (5 days per week) based in Sydney CBD, offering a salary package of circa $150,000 + Super.

Key Responsibilities

• Transition existing information systems into a centralised data ecosystem and eliminate manual data entry across the business.
• Partner directly with an in-house software developer to design and implement tools that streamline operational data capture.
• Drive operational and financial forecasting to support commercial decision-making, capital allocation, and budgeting.
• Build and maintain Power BI management reporting dashboards to improve operational transparency and financial literacy across business units.
• Deliver automated weekly and monthly (EOW/EOM) reporting packs covering financial performance, asset and labour productivity, and operational throughput.
• Review current financial systems alongside the CFO to identify and build system automations using Python, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, and Power Platform.

Qualifications and Skills

• Commercial & Technical Bridge: Ability to sit between commercial finance/FP&A and analytics engineering, connecting raw data pipelines directly to business decisions.
• Background: Experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a technical commercial finance/FP&A role.
• Technical Stack: Strong hands-on coding ability in Python and SQL, alongside proven experience building Power BI data models.
• Automation Focus: Practical experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and Power Platform to remove manual reporting effort.
• Commercial Acumen: Ability to translate complex data structures into clear financial insights for non-finance managers.
• Industry Experience: Background in Agribusiness, Supply Chain, Logistics, or FMCG is highly regarded.
