Job summary

Fisher & Paykel Appliances invites applications for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Australian Finance team. You will own core accounting activities, including month-end and year-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, cashflow support, and financial analysis.

You will partner with Operations, Warehousing, Logistics and Inventory teams to drive cost insights, improve controls, and strengthen reporting capability across the Australian business.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years' relevant corporate accounting experience in inventory/retail/logistics environments.
• CPA,CA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong accounting and balance sheet reconciliation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger reconciliations across balance sheet and P&L.
• Perform month-end/year-end close, journals, reconciliations, and analysis.
• Provide financial commentary on performance, variances and project financials.
• Partner with Operations, Warehousing, Logistics and Inventory teams for cost insights.
• Support cashflow management and liaise with Treasury/head office.
• Maintain financial controls and improve processes and reporting.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Australian Finance team.

This is a key role supporting the accuracy,integrityand insight behind our financial reporting. You will take ownership of core financial accounting activities, including month-end and year-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, cashflow support, complianceactivitiesand financial analysis.

Working closely withthe Finance Manager,CFOand business stakeholders, you will act as a trusted finance partner to the Operations, Warehousing,Logisticsand Inventory teams. You will provide meaningful analysis,identifycostand process improvement opportunities, and help strengthen controls across the business.

As the local market ERP super user, you will also playan important rolein improving systems,processesand reporting capability across the Australian business.

Key responsibilities

• Own the accuracy and integrity of general ledger reconciliations across the balance sheet and profit and loss.
• Complete month-end and year-end accounting activities, including journals, reconciliations,reportingand analysis.
• Prepare meaningful financial analysis and commentary on operating performance, overhead spend, variances and project financials.
• Partner with Operations, Warehousing,Logisticsand Inventory teams to provide cost insights and support better commercial decision-making.
• Support cashflow management and liaise with Treasury and head office teams asrequired.
• Manage intercompany payments, recharges,reconciliationsand stakeholder communications.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls,processesand procedures in line with group policies.
• Review accounting systems,processesand procedures, recommending improvements whererequired.
• Support inventory-related financial processes, costing,reconciliationsand issue resolution.
• Assistwith taxation and compliance requirements, including BAS, FBT and income tax return preparation.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors and coordinate audit requirements with business stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances, driving improvements in quality,timelinessand efficiency.
• Document key financial processes andmaintainknowledge management materials.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives and ad hoc finance projects.

About you

You are a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business, improvingprocessesand turning financial information into practical insights.

You will bring:

• Minimum3+ years' relevant corporate accounting experience, ideally within an inventory, distribution, retail,logisticsor medium-to-large commercial environment.
• CPA,CAor equivalent qualification.
• Strong financial accounting capability, including balance sheet reconciliations, month-endreportingand application of accounting standards.
• Experience with company tax requirements, including BAS, FBT and income tax.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret results, explain variances and prepare clear financial reports.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large ERP systems; JD Edwards or similar experience highly regarded.
• Experience with BI or reporting tools would beadvantageous.
• Inventory costing and distribution experience highly regarded.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability toidentifyopportunities to improve processes,controlsand business performance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders across finance and non-finance teams.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organisationalskillsand the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive,collaborativeand solutions-focused approach, witha strong senseof ownership.
