Job summary

The NSW Electoral Commission is recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant to deliver timely, accurate financial information, statutory statements and audits. This role also develops policies to improve processes and systems, and supervises the Financial Accounting team.

About the Role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for managing the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant financial information. This includes preparing statutory statements and managing financial audit compliance services, including internal and external financial reporting and taxation compliance. The role requires the development of financial policies and procedures to provide process and systems improvements. The ability to communicate a high-level in providing financial advice is highly desirable. The role is also expected to supervise and assist the professional development of the Financial Accounting team.

The role is an Ongoing Full-time position.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance or relevant discipline, with CA/CPA qualification.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant government and public administration legislative processes, protocols and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience delivering statutory financial statements and audits.
• Highly developed organisational skills and including ability to manage multiple stakeholders, complex financial issues and heavy workloads.
• Politically neutral with no affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/campaigners.
• Satisfactory criminal record check result.
