Job summary

City of Boroondara is seeking a Senior Construction Management Enforcement Officer to oversee inspections of building sites, occupations of Council land, and enforcement actions to ensure compliance with Local Laws and relevant statutes. The role involves field-based work, occasional after-hours duties, and guiding junior officers.

Qualifications

• Experience undertaking investigations, interpreting legislation, collecting evidence and making well-reasoned compliance decisions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders and manage difficult conversations.
• Highly organised with ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a dynamic service environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily occupation inspections of Concrete pours, Crane occupations, cross checking traffic management plans against the activity, scheduled and proactive inspections of construction sites and related activities to ensure compliance with Council Local Laws, the Road Management Act, the Planning and Environment Act, the Environmental Protection Act and other relevant legislation.
• Investigate complaints, gather evidence, maintain detailed records and apply appropriate enforcement measures to achieve compliance and protect public safety, community amenity and Council assets.
• Contribute to process improvements, maintain accurate information within Council systems and support the delivery of high-quality services across the Construction Management and broader Civic Services teams.
