Job summary

CSIRO’s Australian e-Health Research Centre seeks a Senior Solution Architect to lead the Sparked initiative, shaping Australian HL7 FHIR standards and implementation guides. The role involves setting architectural direction, translating clinical and policy needs into scalable, standards-based solutions, and advising government, industry and healthcare organisations.

You will work with a dispersed, cross-functional team, travel domestically as required, and contribute to the national strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience leading architecture, design and development of complex software systems across diverse environments.
• Knowledge of the health domain and HL7 standards with HL7 FHIR experience.
• Experience designing secure, scalable APIs and system integration solutions.
• Ability to translate requirements into practical standards-based architectures and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Set technical and architectural direction for FHIR standards and interoperability initiatives.
• Apply expertise in HL7 FHIR and health informatics to address complex interoperability challenges.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and make evidence-based recommendations on architecture and direction.
• Provide authoritative technical advice on complex matters and guide issues to outcomes.
• Lead design, authoring and maintenance of HL7 AU FHIR standards and conformance resources.
• Translate requirements into coherent standards-based solutions that preserve national consistency.
• Develop solution designs, architecture models and technical documentation.
