Job summary

Australian Payments Plus Limited (AP+) is seeking a Senior Communications Manager – External to shape AP+’s external voice and strengthen its reputation across the payments sector. You will lead thought leadership, develop external narratives and manage media relations with senior leaders.

You will collaborate across teams, translate complex developments into compelling stories, and provide strategic communications guidance on issues and crisis scenarios.

Qualifications

• Experience leading external, corporate or stakeholder communications in a complex organisation.
• Track record building communications plans and narratives aligned with organisational priorities.
• Experience in media relations and advising on issues or crisis communications.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling across formats and channels.
• Experience in payments, financial services, infrastructure or other regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead AP+ external thought leadership and media relations, shaping a strong pipeline of stories and opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists across major Australian outlets and manage media enquiries.
• Develop high-quality external communications and executive materials, including media strategies and talking points.
• Create content for podcasts and events, shaping the Beyond Tomorrow Summit content agenda.
• Advise on issues and crisis communications, and support government and regulator engagement.
• Translate complex business and product developments into compelling external narratives.
• Manage external agencies and partners and contribute to broader communications priorities.
