Job summary

Australian Payments Plus (AP+) is strengthening risk management and assurance across our business, partnering with commercial and shared services to provide practical risk advice. The Senior Manager – Risk Advisory & Assurance leads complex activities, translates findings into recommendations and helps the business operate within AP+’s risk framework.

You’ll build relationships with senior stakeholders, drive governance improvements and ensure controls are effective.

Qualifications

• Experience across risk advisory, assurance, controls testing, internal audit, governance or compliance.
• Knowledge of risk management frameworks and quality assurance.

• Experience developing risk reporting and supporting governance processes.

The Role

As our Senior Manager – Risk Advisory & Assurance, you’ll play a key role in strengthening risk management and assurance across AP+, with a particular focus on partnering with our commercial & shared servicesteam.

You’ll work closely with commercial & shared service leaders and teams, providing practical risk advice and assurance as they develop opportunities, make decisions and deliver outcomes for AP+ and our customers. You’ll help the team navigate risk and governance requirements while maintaining a strong commercial mindset — enabling informed decision-making rather than simply identifying risk.

Alongside your commercial focus, you’ll lead complex risk and assurance activities, assess the effectiveness of controls, provide specialist advice and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations. Success in this role will come from building strong relationships, understanding the commercial context and becoming a trusted risk partner who can constructively challenge, influence and help the business achieve its objectives within AP+’s risk framework.

This Role Is Responsible For:

• Planning and delivering complex risk management and assurance activities across assigned business areas.
• Providing senior specialist advice on risk, controls, assurance findings, remediation and governance.
• Leading formal reviews and assessments across complex and cross-functional areas.
• Assessing compliance with standards and identifying the underlying causes of control weaknesses or non-compliance.
• Preparing and presenting clear assurance findings, risk insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Establishing consistent risk management processes, reporting mechanisms and supporting documentation.
• Working with specialists and domain experts to deliver robust, well-informed assurance outcomes.
• Building strong relationships across the business and supporting the adoption of risk methods, tools and standards.
• Identifying opportunities to continuously improve AP+’s risk, assurance and control environment.

In Order to Be Successful in This Role You’ll Need to Demonstrate:

• Significant experience across risk advisory, assurance, controls testing, internal audit, governance or compliance, ideally within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, control assessment and quality assurance.
• Experience planning and conducting complex reviews and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
• The ability to provide credible, authoritative risk advice and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships and navigate complex or competing priorities.
• Experience developing effective risk reporting, measures and supporting governance processes.
• A practical approach to improving methods, tools, controls and assurance practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex risk matters clearly.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in risk, audit, assurance, compliance, business, finance, technology or a related discipline.
