Job summary

ACCIONA Energía in Brisbane seeks an experienced Estimator/Estimating Manager to own bids from tender to award. You will evaluate tender documents, gather subcontractor pricing, and coordinate input across the business, acting as lead client contact.

You will set standards for the estimating group, support recruitment of estimators, and work with the quality team to ensure rigorous cost controls. Previous tunnelling/rail project experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or similar field.
• Minimum 10 years estimating experience on tunnelling/metro/rail/highways projects.
• Knowledge of planning and construction methodologies.
• Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground conditioning systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).

• Provide area forecasts and report project status.
• Coordinate input across the business and act as lead client contact for bids.
• Revise estimates and implement changes.

ACCIONA delivers infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand, including civil construction, transport, rail, road, water and tunnelling projects. Every project starts with an accurate, well-structured bid. Our Studies and Bids team builds the estimates that win this work, and works closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients from tender through to award.

About the Opportunity

You will report to the Estimating Manager and own the estimates and proposals for your assigned bids. Evaluate tender documents, learn the client’s requirements and gather subcontractor pricing. Coordinate input across the business and act as lead client contact. When a tender is won, hand it over to project management.

You will also set the standards and systems the estimating group follows, help recruit estimators and review their performance. Work with the quality management group to set and monitor quality standards.

Key accountabilities

• Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned estimating projects
• Provide area specific forecasts and report projects status
• Manage multiple bids and perform as liaison between estimating team
• Revise estimates and implement required changes
• Maintain client relations by being lead contact of proposal for client
• Monitor and ensure bid format meet clients standards
• Evaluate Customer Request for Tender/Bid/Quotation documents
• Coordinate with subcontractors to receive input on pricing on labour, materials and other costs
• Review, provide feedback and evaluate performance of Estimators and Senior Estimators
• Manage multiple bids and act as lead client contact
• Set estimating standards and quality controls with the quality group

Required Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or a similar
• Minimum 10 years estimating experience estimating on projects constructed using different Tunnelling methods & various use, Metro, Rail, Highways, Utility etc
• Knowledge of planning and construction methodologies
• Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground conditioning systems
• Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
