Job summary

New Wave Group (Australia) in Melbourne's Rowville area is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to price commercial electrical projects, from drawings to tender submissions. You will lead pricing, assess risks, and collaborate with the Director and Project Managers who value your judgement.

You will read drawings, negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, and oversee handovers of awarded work to the Project Management team.

With a healthy pipeline of upcoming work, we're adding an experienced Senior Estimator to the team.

The Role
You'll be the go-to person for pricing our commercial electrical projects. That means taking a set of drawings and building a complete, competitive estimate from the ground up: underground services, mains and sub-mains, switchboards, lighting and power, through to fit-off.

You'll run your own pipeline and make your own calls, working closely with our Director and Project Managers who value your judgement. If you want real influence over which jobs we win and how they're priced, this role offers exactly that.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate, competitive estimates and tender submissions for commercial electrical projects

Interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work

Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors

Identify project risks and value-engineering opportunities early

Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings

Provide clear, thorough handovers of awarded projects to the Project Management team

Maintain records of quotes, margins and tender outcomes

About You

Demonstrated experience in commercial electrical construction (applications without this will not be considered)

Proven track record estimating commercial electrical projects end to end, from undergrounds through to switchboards, lighting and power

Strong practical knowledge of electrical systems, materials and installation methods

Confident reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications

High attention to detail and strong numerical skills

Effective negotiator with suppliers and subcontractors

Self-driven and comfortable managing your own workload

Clear, professional communicator with clients and internal teams

Highly regarded:
