Job summary

Laing O’Rourke is seeking an experienced Estimator/Cost Planner to lead the preparation and validation of project estimates for major infrastructure bids. You will develop cost models, assess resources, and coordinate inputs from consultants and suppliers to ensure competitive tenders.

The role requires strong analytical ability, leadership of the estimating team, and excellent communication with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar.
• Proven experience in estimating, cost planning and tendering for large infrastructure/construction/engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of estimating methodologies, cost modelling, resource planning, contract administration and commercial principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to assess costs, identify risks and validate estimates.
• Demonstrated leadership capability including team supervision and workload management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and submission of accurate project estimates.
• Develop realistic cost models, resource requirements and schedules for bids.
• Coordinate with external consultants, suppliers and stakeholders for estimating inputs.
• Monitor market pricing, industry trends and cost benchmarks to improve accuracy and competitiveness.
• Manage cost investigations and analysis with robust data support.
• Lead, mentor and supervise estimating team members and ensure deadlines and safety.
