Job summary

Pair People Pty Limited is seeking two experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineers to join its established SaaS team in Sydney. You will own complex problems across the full SDLC, from design through production support, focusing on robust backend and frontend solutions.

Expect to work on a data-intensive platform with high-volume transactions and complex integrations. You’ll influence architecture and collaborate with other senior engineers to deliver scalable, reliable software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience and strong backend skills.
• Proficient in PHP with Laravel or Symfony.
• Advanced PostgreSQL and SQL, beyond ORM usage.
• Experience with payments or high-volume transactional systems.
• Experience with complex integrations and legacy platform modernization.
• Able to take ownership and mentor others.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced 2 x Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join an established technology business operating a large-scale SaaS platform.

This is not a ticket-based development role. You’ll take ownership of complex problems across the full software development lifecycle – understanding requirements, designing solutions, development, testing, release and production support.

The platform handles high-volume transactions, complex integrations and large set of data, so strong database and backend engineering skills are particularly important.

What You’ll Do

Develop and maintain applications using PHP and Laravel.

Build modern frontend functionality using React and TypeScript.

Write and optimise complex PostgreSQL and raw SQL queries.

Work with high-volume data, payments and transactional systems.

Diagnose complex production issues across application, database and infrastructure layers.

Identify technical risks, edge cases and better solutions before development.

Take ownership of projects from investigation through to production.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years’ commercial software engineering experience.

Strong PHP experience with Laravel or Symfony.

Advanced PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including working beyond an ORM.

Strong relational database design and performance optimisation experience.

Experience working with payments, financial transactions or high-volume transactional systems.

Experience with complex integrations or modernising large established software platforms

Comfortable taking ownership while collaborating with other experienced engineers.
