Job summary

Westpac Group in Sydney is seeking a Senior Engineer to design, develop and maintain high-quality APIs, microservices and applications using Java, Spring Boot and Node.js, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.

You will collaborate with product managers and engineers, contribute to architecture decisions, and champion CI/CD and DevOps practices, while resolving production issues and driving performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with API/microservices design and development.
• RESTful API design, development and integration experience.
• Advanced SQL with PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Git/Bitbucket collaboration and version control.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling such as Bamboo.
• Strong software design, testing and code quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain APIs, microservices and applications using Java, Spring Boot and Node.js.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and optimise database performance.
• Support modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; ensure code quality and documentation.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver valuable outcomes, resolve production issues and improve performance.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards across the team.
