Job summary

Westpac Group is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to provide technical leadership across developer platforms including GitHub Enterprise, CI/CD tooling and automated delivery pathways. You will collaborate with engineering, architecture, security and risk teams to shape platform direction and improve the developer experience.

This hands-on role requires strong automation, IaC and experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and modern deployment tools.

Qualifications

Experience delivering enterprise-scale DevOps, CI/CD or developer platform capabilities.
Hands-on with GitHub Enterprise and modern deployment tools (Harness, Argo CD, Octopus Deploy).
Experience designing Infrastructure as Code and platform automation (Terraform, OpenTofu, APIs).
Strong software engineering and automation skills (Python).
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
Experience building secure, scalable developer platforms for enterprise software delivery.
Understanding CI/CD best practices, automated testing and release management.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across strategic developer platforms.
Mentor engineers and drive platform improvements.
Define and evolve engineering standards and automated delivery pathways.
Partner with engineering, architecture, security and risk teams to balance pragmatic solutions.
