Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior Developer in Sydney to lead the design and delivery of scalable APIs and microservices. You will mentor peers, shape the technical direction, and improve build tooling and shared libraries for a broad developer community.

You'll work on flagship Mesh Connect Marketplace, collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality software, automate processes, and ensure reliable deployments while fostering a thriving development culture.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of polyglot software development experience.
• Experience building APIs and microservices in Java; Node.js or Python desirable; JSON data formats required.
• Strong Git and GitHub workflows including PRs, branching strategies, code reviews and CI integrations.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and emphasis on quality and automation.
• Experience with public cloud platforms, ideally Azure and/or AWS.
• Exposure to SaaS platforms such as Confluent Kafka, MongoDB, Harness.
• Advocacy for agile practices like TDD, pair programming and continuous delivery/deployment.
