Arkeus seeks an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design and architect firmware for multi-microcontroller EO/IR payloads. You will own the firmware architecture, toolchain and interfaces across hardware and software boundaries.

You will collaborate with electronics engineers, develop drivers for sensors and peripherals, and implement secure boot and update mechanisms. You will operate in a high-growth defence tech environment, delivering reliable, testable firmware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded firmware experience in safety- or mission-critical domains.
• Strong C for embedded systems; Rust experience or interest.
• Experience across multi-microcontroller systems and inter-processor communication.

Responsabilités

• Design and architect firmware for multi-MCU/SoC systems, define interfaces and timing.
• Develop and optimise drivers for sensors and peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB).
• Implement bootloaders and secure field updates (A/B images, signing).
• Collaborate with electronics engineers during board bring-up and design reviews.
• Contribute to CI/CD for secure, air-gapped environments.
• Document design notes and interface control documents.
