Job summary

BSMS Security, a NSW-based electronic security integrator, seeks a Senior Electronic Security Estimator to own tenders from review to submission and handover. This senior, hands-on role drives margin and delivery success by producing complete, competitively priced estimates.

You will collaborate with Estimation, project delivery, procurement and finance teams to ensure accuracy, risk control and smooth handovers to delivery. Prior experience with complex security systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of electronic security estimating experience on complex commercial, construction or government projects.
• Ability to complete detailed take-offs and build labour, material and subcontractor estimates.
• Strong commercial judgement identifying scope gaps and margin exposure before submission.
• Experience using SimPRO or equivalent estimating platform.
• Clear written communication for professional scopes, clarifications and submissions.

About BSMS Security

BSMS Security is a NSW-based electronic security integrator delivering complex, integrated systems for commercial and government clients across Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter region. Our Electronics division designs, installs, commissions and maintains access control, intrusion detection, intercom and video surveillance systems across major construction and infrastructure projects.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Electronic Security Estimator to own an assigned portfolio of tenders and quotations from initial review through to final submission and project handover. This is a senior, hands-on role where the quality of your estimates will directly influence win rate, gross margin and successful project delivery.

You will work closely with our Estimation Manager, project delivery teams, technical services, procurement and finance. Your estimates must be complete, commercially sound and capable of converting into delivery without significant rework.

What you'll be responsible for

• Own assigned tenders and quotations, including take-offs, labour and material build-ups, supplier and subcontractor pricing, scope, assumptions, qualifications and submission.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation to identify scope requirements, exclusions, interfaces and commercial risks.
• Prepare accurate estimates for access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom and integrated electronic security systems.
• Build every estimate in SimPRO with clear labour allowances, material costs, margins and supporting documentation.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and confirm scope coverage before submission.
• Prepare clear clarifications, departures, qualifications and value-engineering options where required.
• Complete structured handovers to delivery teams covering scope, pricing basis, assumptions, risks and procurement considerations.
• Maintain estimating templates, rate libraries and supplier pricing, and support post-project reviews against actual delivery outcomes.

What you'll bring

• At least five years of electronic security estimating experience, including complex commercial, construction or government projects.
• Strong technical knowledge across access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom and integrated security systems.
• Proven ability to complete detailed take-offs and build accurate labour, material and subcontractor estimates.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify scope gaps, delivery risks and margin exposure before submission.
• Experience using SimPRO, or the ability to quickly demonstrate competency in an equivalent estimating platform.
• Clear written communication and the ability to prepare professional scopes, clarifications, qualifications and submissions.
• A current NSW Security Licence (Class 2) and NSW Construction White Card, or the ability to obtain them.

Highly regarded

• Experience with Inner Range Integriti, ICT Protege, Gallagher, Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Aiphone or Commend.
• Relevant qualifications in security systems, electronics or an electrical trade.
• Experience building estimating templates and reusable rate libraries.
• Experience pricing structured cabling and network infrastructure associated with security systems.

What success looks like

• You independently manage an assigned share of the bid portfolio and produce estimates requiring minimal rework.
• Quoted labour and material allowances hold up against actual project delivery outcomes.
• Commercial risks are identified early, documented clearly and appropriately escalated.
• Project handovers are complete and require minimal follow-up from delivery teams.
• You contribute to stronger estimating standards, templates, rate libraries and team capability across BSMS.
