Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer to lead HV substation design for transmission, distribution, and data centre projects across Australia. You will own multi‑disciplinary designs, drive technical excellence, and deliver safe, reliable energy solutions.

Qualifications

• 7–15+ years post-graduate HV/EHV experience in electrical engineering.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility.
• Chartered status at Associate level.
• Strong background in substation design, HV infrastructure, cable systems, and data centres.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV (primary) design for transmission & distribution substations, HV infrastructure, and data centre projects—covering layouts, ratings, sizing, and technical oversight.
• Develop detailed specifications at both project and equipment levels.
• Apply knowledge of power system protection, SCADA systems, transmission lines, underground cables, and earthing design.
• Support high‑voltage scope for Owner’s Engineer and Technical Due Diligence projects.
• Review and verify designs and reports prepared by peers.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence.
• Drive Safety‑in‑Design (SID) and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Collaborate across disciplines—civil, structural, geotechnical, drafting, and control systems.
• Undertake short‑term site visits as needed.
• Contribute to proposals and business development initiatives.
