Job summary

Arup in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hands-on LV electrical and communications design across diverse infrastructure projects. Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (preferred) with experience in infrastructure electrical or communications systems.
• Professional engineering membership or progression toward Chartered Status is preferred.
• Experience with design and modelling software and multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver LV electrical or communications design services across multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, producing calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Review designs completed by others in areas of assessed competency.
• Lead significant and complex design packages with resource planning and project coordination.
• Contribute to long-term strategic planning including budgeting and client negotiation.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian standards, OH&S and quality procedures.

The Opportunity

• Deliver hands-on LV electrical or communications services across multidisciplinary infrastructure project, including production of calculations, drawings and specifications while guiding junior team members.
• Review and verify designs completed by others in areas where you hold assessed competency.
• Manage design activities in alignment with Arup’s Design Management Manual and Quality Management System.
• Lead significant and complex electrical or communications design packages, including resource planning, project coordination and representation at internal and external meetings.
• Contribute to long-term strategic planning, including potential involvement in team performance management, budgeting, and commercial negotiations with clients.

Is this role right for you?

• Recognised tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Telecommunication Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with experience in one or more key infrastructure electrical or communication systems such as LV distribution, lighting and control system, Intelligent Transport System or Traffic Signal.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, legislation, authority requirements and industry best practice.
• Experience working on large multidisciplinary engineering projects—within a consulting environment, supported by familiarity with relevant design and modelling software.
• Excellent communication and technical skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders and an appreciation of broader engineering disciplines.
• Professional engineering chartership or progression toward Chartered Status, coupled with proven knowledge of OH&S and quality procedures and a commitment to high-quality, safe, and sustainable design outcomes.
