Job summary

SAGE Automation in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Drafter to design and draft electrical control schematics for assigned projects, using AutoCAD Electrical, and to support Engineers and Project Managers. You will translate concepts into detailed drawings, prepare equipment lists for PLC, Safety and Control Systems, and ensure conformance with specifications, safety and quality standards.

You will work autonomously to deliver on time and within budget, and engage with stakeholders

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical with extensive experience in designing and developing industrial electrical control systems for automation projects.
• A Class Electrical qualification and/or a degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering will be highly regarded.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders to elicit and understand their requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and produce drawings and equipment lists for PLC, Safety and Control Systems using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Prepare drawings from concept to customer stage and ensure conformance with project specifications.
• Prepare all aspects of drawing sets for complex units/assemblies, considering safety and quality requirements.
• Resolve problems and keep stakeholders informed, delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Estimate for smaller projects as requested and collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers.

As a Senior Electrical Design Drafter, you will support Engineers and Project Managers by assuming responsibility for accurately designing and drafting electrical control schematics for assigned projects that meet SAGE drawing standards.

In this role you will:

Design, develop and produce drawings and equipment lists for PLC, Safety and Control Systems using AutoCAD Electrical.

Have the freedom to prepare drawings from concept to customer stage.

Prepare all aspects of drawing sets, structure, content and associated drawings for complex units/assemblies for whole projects, taking into account safety and quality requirements.

Resolve problems as they arise whilst keeping key stakeholders informed.

Work autonomously to deliver projects on time and within budget and when requested, undertake estimates for smaller projects.

In consultation with Engineers and Project Managers, continuously review project specifications and customer requirements to ensure conformance with specifications, quality and safety standards.

Have the ability to prepare schematics for complex electrical control projects that do not conform to existing precedents and translate electrical system concepts to the design and development of schematics.

Skills & Experience:

You must have a sound knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical with extensive experience in designing and developing industrial electrical control systems for automation projects.

Candidates with an A Class Electrical qualification and/or a degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering will be highly regarded.

You will have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders to elicit and understand their requirements in order to deliver a high-quality drafting service.
