Job summary

SAGE Automation, part of the SAGE Group, is Australia’s leading independent automation and control systems integrator. We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Hobart or Launceston team to lead a technical group and deliver complex automation projects.

You will apply electrical engineering qualifications and strong PLC/SCADA experience to mentor staff and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery, while managing commissioning and testing and mitigating technical risks.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering qualification with automation/control systems experience.
• Good engineering practices and principles knowledge.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Essential PLC experience with Siemens/Schneider/Rockwell.
• Essential SCADA experience with Ignition/Citect/GeoSCADA.

You will have proven advanced design and delivery expertise in electrical engineering and/or control systems engineering. You will be accountable for successfully and competently delivering complex engineering solutions for projects within requirements, schedule and budget. You will provide mentoring and leadership and have the ability to lead a technical team to meet commissioning and testing deadlines.

In this role you will:

• Lead a technical team through ongoing mentoring and development.
• Be accountable for the team’s performance in achieving schedule, quality and budget targets.
• Design and deliver technical solutions that meet the requirements and scope of the project.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk, escalating high risk items to management.
• Manage and promptly resolve commissioning and testing issues.
• Manage changes to the technical outcomes of the project.

Skills & Experience:

• You will have an appropriate Electrical Engineering qualification combined with verifiable industry experience within automation and control systems.
• You will have demonstrable knowledge of good engineering practices and principles.
• Candidates with excellent communications skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders will be highly regarded.
• Strong PLC experience such as Siemens, Schneider or Rockwell is essential.
• Strong SCADA experience such as Ignition, Citect or GeoSCADA is essential.
