Job summary

Platinum Blasting Services Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Drill & Blast Engineer to lead on-site design and QA while mentoring a growing crew. You’ll travel to our Brisbane CBD support office and work with site engineers, production teams and clients to deliver safe, efficient blasting solutions.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in drill and blast engineering and on-site delivery.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring others.
• Able to obtain Queensland Explosives Security Clearance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel to Brisbane CBD support office as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the drill & blast design, QA and performance reviews.
• Collaborate with site engineers, production teams and clients.
• Own people leadership of the team with support from the Technical Services Manager.
• Provide on-site technical support and travel as required.
• Drive continuous improvement through data analysis.

The Role

We're looking for aSenior Drill & Blast Engineerto join our Technical team. You'll be someone who may have had experience (whether formal or informal) taking on a people leadership role and excited by an opportunity where you're on the ground supporting on-site operations and travelling to our Brisbane CBD based support office (where required). This move is ideal for you if you:

• Want hands-on involvement in drill & blast design, QA, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement

What You’ll Do

You’ll support drill & blast delivery across design, QA, stakeholder liaison, and operational improvement. Your work will include:

• Running drill & blast design, QA and performance reviews
• Working closely with site engineers, production teams and clients
• Owning the people leadership of the team with support from the Technical Services Manager and you'll act as the 2IC
• Assisting with troubleshooting, data analysis and continuous improvement
• Being based on site, providing technical in time support to our crew on the ground and managing head office stakeholders

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia and living in Brisbane
• Solid experience working in drill and blast engineering
• Proven experience leading or mentoring others
• Able to obtain a Queensland Explosives Security Clearance or hold one
• Ability to translate complex technical information into simple, actionable insights
• High level of interpersonal skill, with the ability to build rapport quickly and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Resilience, agility, versatility and willingness to work in a dynamic operational environment
• Able to travel to site and work on an 8:6 roster

Nice to have:

• Degree in Mining Engineering (not essential)
• Mining operational experience on the bench (e.g., Blast Crew, Shotfirer)
• Experience using mine planning or blasting software
• Previous exposure to drill & blast design, QA, or analysis
