Job summary

Platinum Blasting Services in Queensland is seeking a Drill & Blast Engineer to join our Technical team. You’ll be on the ground supporting on-site operations and mentoring junior crew while engaging with clients and site engineers to design and QA drill and blast processes.

The role offers a permanent on-site position with an 8:6 roster, camp-style accommodation and a pathway for career development within a small, collaborative team that values safety, clear communication and hands-on problem

Qualifications

• Right to work in Australia without restrictions.
• Experience in Drill & Blast.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring others.
• Able to obtain a Queensland Explosives Security Clearance or hold one.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into simple, actionable insights.
• High level of interpersonal skill, with the ability to build rapport quickly and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Resilience, agility, versatility and willingness to work in a dynamic operational environment.
• Able to travel to site and work on an 8:6 roster.

Responsibilities

• Running drill & blast design, QA and performance reviews.
• Working closely with site engineers, production teams and clients.
• Liaise with the client directly to ensure business needs are understood and met.
• Supporting juniors with mentorship and coaching.
• Assisting with troubleshooting, data analysis and continuous improvement.
• Being based on site, providing technical in time support to our crew on the ground and managing head office stakeholders.

The Role

We're looking for a Drill & Blast Engineer to join our Technical team. You'll be someone who may have had experience (whether formal or informal) taking on a coaching or mentoring role and excited by an opportunity where you're on the ground supporting on-site operations. What You'll Do

You'll support drill & blast delivery across design, QA, stakeholder liaison, and operational improvement on site. Your work will include:
