Job summary

WSP Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Drafter (12D) to join our Water Utilities team in Adelaide. You’ll deliver high‑quality civil drafting and design outputs for major water infrastructure projects, mentoring junior drafters and contributing to our digital engineering capability.

Based in Adelaide with hybrid working options, you’ll collaborate with engineers and designers across the project lifecycle, coordinate drawings, and liaise with clients and surveyors to ensure on‑time

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Civil Drafter or Senior Civil Drafter in water/utilities projects.
• Proficient in 12D and AutoCAD for civil design documentation.
• Experience delivering detailed civil packages and earthworks, drainage, roads, pipelines.
• Ability to mentor junior drafters and work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

• Deliver plans, profiles, cross-sections, earthworks models, and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers across the project lifecycle.

• Contribute to drafting standards and digital engineering workflows.

What You'll Do

• Prepare high-quality civil drafting and design documentation using 12D and AutoCAD for major water infrastructure and utilities projects.
• Deliver detailed design outputs including plans, profiles, cross-sections, earthworks models, and construction drawings.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle.
• Support projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Review drafter outputs and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Coordinate drawing production to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to WSP's quality standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards, workflows, and digital engineering processes.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, and project stakeholders as required.

About You

• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Drafter or Senior Civil Drafter, ideally within water, utilities, transport, or linear infrastructure projects.
• Advanced proficiency in 12D and AutoCAD, with strong technical drafting and modelling capabilities.
• Experience producing detailed civil documentation packages for infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of civil design principles, including earthworks, drainage, roads, pipelines, and utility infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior drafters is highly regarded.
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Design Drafting, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working with water authorities or utility clients will be highly regarded.
